Academic Assignment — Brand Identity 310
826 National’s chapters offer a variety of inventive programs that provide under-resourced students, ages 6-18, with opportunities to explore their creativity and improve their writing skills. They also aim to help teachers get their classes excited about writing. Its mission is based on the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with individualized attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.
826 stores are wanting to spread their wings even further across the country and set up homes in other locations. The style of the store should be relevant and appropriate to the city selected — my assigned location, New Orleans, Louisiana.
SKETCHES & PROCESS
Throughout this project, research was my best friend. Not knowing much about New Orleans or the 826 Store Brand I wanted to indulge myself in the city’s culture and the store’s values.
My research brought me an overwhelming amount of information about the city of New Orleans. The culture is so diverse as well as a gold mine for inspiration. I kept circling back to music, something every kid is surrounded and familiar with and constantly inspires creativity.
Music = Creativity = Higher Productivity. Music was the perfect central idea for an 826 store and its values to help children with their struggles in their home life and academia.
